So, lunchtime came, and I went in to see the Senior House Masters. My nervousness now is not about speaking in front of colleagues, but because the other part of my job is bringing in external income through things like lettings, and that always seems to put me head-to-head with house staff. My strategy of buying extra ping-pong balls and recovering pool tables must be working however as I didn’t get the grilling I was expecting about our Easter Belly dancing course!
What I did get was a lot of support, which is marvellous – and with that lots of ideas. We run our giving day over two days or 36hrs, this allows us to target all our alumni and parents around the world, and Thursday is so much easier in our timetable to run some house events. We have a 100ft inflatable assault course booked, we will have a themed lunch, we will have archery and an inter-house bake-off. All really exciting stuff.
